The property is located within the city of Vicenza. It is a 5 minute drive or a 10 to 15 minute bicycle ride (on bicycle paths) into the center. The property takes up one side of what was once the square "cortile" of a convent. The convent had its origins in the 12th century, but was eventually gifted by Pope Eugenio IV to a monastic group until it was confiscated by the Venetian Republic in the 18th century to help pay the republic's mounting debt. It is attached on one side to the small "Maddalene" church and on the other side to other homes remodeled from the convent square. On the other hand the property's rear garden overlooks the beauty and calm of the Berici Hills and ,in the distance, the snow capped Alps.
Behind the property and leading to the next town is a path running along a small stream and bordering corn fields The stream ends with ponds that have natural artesian well springs.
The property is divided on three floors with the second floor being on ground level from the front, piazza side and the first floor being on ground level to the garden at the rear of the house.
From the main entrance, on the left is a large bedroom with separate bathroom and a "soppalco" (Mezzanine area, accessed by a wooden stairwell). This room has access by stone steps to the back garden. On the right are three additional rooms used as a cloakroom, music room, and bedroom. The ceilings are wood beam with the roof line of the original medieval convent building visible on the exterior wall. Foors are terra cotta with interesting arches throughout.
On entering from the front door there is a stone staircase leading to the uppper level where 2 reception rooms kitchen-dinning area and bathroom are located. The kitchen has built in kitchen cupboards with "Vicenza" stone tile tops and backdrops. From the kitchen is a spiral staircase to the attic. The attic has two rooms and a small bathroom used now for guests.
The main reception area or "long room" has two low, stone toped walls to divide the entry, main section, and study. The room has 3 windows facing the front piazza. The long room has "a velo" ceilings which are domed "fan" ceilings. All other ceilings are wooden beam ceilings, many with the original beams. Many of the floors throught the house have the original "cotto" tiles.
From the main entrance to the lower level, there is a "summer kitchen" conveniently located for barbecuing in the back garden during the summer. In addition there is space dedicated to a wine cantina and a third fireplace (non working). On the opposite side of the stairs is a separate barrel vaulted room currently used as a store room/laundry.
There is a separate garage located adjacent to the property. In addition, approximately 90m2 is currently unrenovated, but with approved city plans for remodeling as a "mother-in-law" apartment.
