This is a much-sought-after area, the sunniest and driest in France, and often the warmest, and 40 minutes from Spain (cheap shopping). Ryanair has daily flights to Perpignan, two in summer, and Flybe also comes to Perpignan. Perpignan, the nearest big town, has daily TGV trains to Paris and points north and south. Ryanair also flies to Gerona, four times daily in summer, which is only 1 hour and a quarter from the apartment.
There are many activities in the town, excellent sports facilities, and shops open all year round, most restaurants and shops English-speaking if necessary. The hotel is open from April to October. Doctor nearby, Medical Centre this side of Perpignan.
The scenery is splendid, with the Pyrenees down the road, and skiing an hour or so away. Interesting historical buildings, fine churches, Collioure just down the coast, many mountain-walking and cycling associations, expeditions, Chamber Music Festival in summer.
