Our latest addition is a 2 bedroom stone cottage in the chateau grounds. Newly renovated, the open plan area downstairs has the original stone fireplace, dining table / chairs and a fully fitted kitchen: electric oven, gas hob. Washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and microwave, large fridge freezer. Upstairs is a double bed in one room, and 2 singles in the other. Also a separate bathroom with shower. A barbecue is available on request and you can enjoy the full facilities of the chateau. Nearby Chef Boutonne (1.5 kms) has 2 supermarkets, patisseries, petrol stations, tabacs restaurants etc. You can also book to dine at the chateau, either table D’Hote or A La carte, (all food is fresh produce, locally grown)
Visit Chef Boutonne, with its fairytale Renaissance Chateau Jarvazay (one of the most important in its time), with its lake (fishing) and park, and typical French pavement cafes. Zoorama at Chize is home to 600 European animals on a 25-hectare site, deep in the forest. Valley of the Monkeys at Romage, brings you into contact with 30 species of monkey, roaming free in a natural environment. Marais Poitevin (the green Venice) is a network of waterways which your can explore by boat or bike or take the train which follows the canals. It also has an ornithological park with 70 species of bird. There is so much to do in the area, we have just named a few, however if all you want is a relaxing holiday you can take a sun lounger into the parkland and enjoy the weather.
