The ideal location for a house party holiday with a sporting theme. This 18th Century barn is situated 17km due south of Bergerac. It has been lovingly restored and converted into a hotel with ten modern en-suite bedrooms, eight of which open onto the patio and the 19 metre long figure of eight swimming pool. It is set in 40 acres of meadow, woodland and farmland surrounded by beautiful countryside. Plenty of things to do (or not to do) this house party holiday is aimed at people who enjoy wining, dining, talking and laughing with people of like mind. The sporting element of this type of holiday should not deter the not too clever sportsmen/women; in fact you will probably be in the majority. We do have the occasional Sue Barker lookalike, but Ronnie Barkers are more the norm. French cuisine by Jocelyne, the native part of this Anglo/French partnership. Tony is the 'Anglo' and will, together with Jocelyne, be your host. Most weeks we cater for couples only and do not cater for children; we decided this in the selfish pusuit of peace and pleasure for us older kids. However, in recent years we have had three weeks during which well behaved children are welcome. Breakfast is a 'help yourself' affair, with cereal, french bread and preserves, croissant, pain au chocolat, tea, coffee and fruit juice. Lunch and Dinner will include all the specialities of the region, including confit de canard, fois gras, salad perigordine and much more. After dinner challenges, insults and maybe even a sensible discussion are also on the menu. Your accomodation provides you with all the amenities you will need during your stay. Eight of the bedromms open onto the impressive 19 metre figure of eight swimming pool where you can relax on the patio with the beverage of your choice - you know where it's kept, just help yourself. If, after a tiring afternoon of doing nothing you feel you should justify the calories you are about to partake in, there is a nice little walk (or run - if you want to be silly!) just short of a mile meandering through the vines and woodland round the pond and straight back to the dinner table! This area is a paradise for lovers of wild life; hoopoe, heron, woodpeckers, buzzards, kestrels, deer, hare, lizards, frogs, toads and mosquitoes to name a few.
Our indoor badminton court, as well as being a great game in its own right, is an ideal arena for short tennis, especially when its too hot to play 'proper' tennis on our outdoor court, or if you get rained off (despite this being the perfect place for great summer weather, it does occasionally rain). All of the sports provided here are designed to keep you amused, however, don't worry about being railroaded into playing anything you don't want to. *
