In a prime position overlooking the Mosel River and on the bus route from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (a Ryanair hub), our delightful and modern apartment house is a short walk to the centre of the vibrant, historic wine-making town of Zell. The traditionally styled house comprises 5 apartments. It is the perfect base for either a short holiday in the region - or as a long term base to live the Continental life and explore Europe from.
The house is of 4 stories and was thoroughly rebuilt in the mid 1990s. Our 'River View' apartment type featured on this website is well furnished, very clean and comfortable, 30 sq metres in area, offering one double bedroom and a combined lounge-kitchen. Both rooms look out to the Mosel.
Kitchens are fully equipped. Decor is white tiled floors, white rendered walls and pine ceilings. Furniture is of good quality and mostly timber. The common laundry is available for long term lets. There is a patio balcony adjacent to the street entry shared by three of our apartments.
Our keyholder Elsbeth lives on the top floor.
Zell is one of the 4 larger towns on the 200 km length of the Mosel that winds from Trier to Koblenz. It is a 'stadt' with 4500 population. The town hall is about 500 m from our house and near it is the Zellerland Regional Tourist Information Office providing materials and advice in many languages.
Local attractions feature wine tours, cellar door tastings, castles, abbeys, warm thermal springs (Bad Bertrich 15km by bus), river cruises, walking and cycling.
Day tours are offered by a local coach company to Luxembourg, Rhine Gorges, Eifel Region, Trier, Koblenz - and Paris! Prices are very reasonable.
Bus and rail services criss-cross the region, with Zell lying just in the Koblenz VRM area and also convenient to the Trier VRT network. Day passes are good value. The local rail station is Bullay with about 25 trains a day in each direction. Buses run frequently the 6 km between Zell and Bullay Staion.
Nearby Hahn Airport is connected by up 9 buses a day. The airport is a major hub for Ryanair and offers flights to Berlin, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greek Islands, Austria, Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, France, Spain, Majorca, Portugal, Morocco, Canary Islands, Eire, London and Scotland.
Buses run to many other centres from Hahn Airport (eg Heidelberg, Saarbrucken) and car hire is available from the major companies.
Parking opposite the house is unrestricted, relatively safe and not hard to get.
A major hospital and modern shopping centre are sited at Zell-Barl, on top of the plateau across the river, 4 kms by regular bus.
Internet reception is excellent with providers such as t-mobile. Free wi-fi access is included.
Apartments are fitted with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. |
