The village of Akyaka, near the town of Marmaris is in the province of Muðla. Situated at the foot of the Sakar hills , which rise 670 metres above the crystal clear blue Aegean waters at the bay of Gökova.
This is a designated conservation area. Buildings are of the traditional Ula/Muðla design, with elegant tiled roofs, and intricate wooden carvings on the ceilings and balconies. Akyaka is an authentic Turkish village with a farming and fishing history, and excellent cuisine.
Akyaka has its own wonderful sandy beach and small harbour where you can buy freshly caught seafood from the fisherman. From the harbour you have a number of boats offering trips to local attractions such as Cleopatra Island, and the English harbour.
Situated on the beach are a number of excellent restaurants. Sailing, Windsurfing and Cannoing are all available at Yucelen Sports also set on the beach front. At the end of Akyaka Beach is a small national park, with more bathing areas and lovely walks along the cliff tops.
At Cinar, a few kilometres away from Akyaka there is a beautiful pebble Beach. There is a fast cold river running through the village to the sea, which is a haven for wildlife and fish. Alongside the river are giant Eucalyptus trees, and some ancient monuments left over from the Lycian period. Close to Akyaka you can find remains from the ancient city of Idyma with its Acropolis and Sarcophagus.
Villa Bahar is located one of the best part of Akyaka. It is in the centre of the upper village and has a commanding position that overlooks at the upper village. It is in a ideal location for those who would like to experience the local life with easy access to shops, restaurants and the beach whenever they like but also for those who would like tranquillity and like to be surrounded by the magnificent views and lush gardens away from the noise and night life in the lower village. You will also benefit from the lovely light breeze coming from the pine forest which keeps mosquitoes away and make the hot summer nights more enjoyable. In Villa Bahar you will get the best of both worlds. The views are magnificent, the Sakar hills to the back of the house and the Gokova bay to the front. Set in its own garden, the villa is a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, or to arrange exciting excursions. A marble staircase leads to the main living area. Balconies surround the main and upper floor. Seating is set into the balconies and makes for the perfect spot to survey the scenery and watch the world go by.
The living area is open plan with air condition. The kitchen is fully equipped including washing machine and dishwasher. The dining room and sitting room are furnished with contemporary Turkish furniture and seats 6 people comfortably. A wooden staircase leads to the bedrooms - a large double and a twin both with air condition. Both rooms are light and airy and have access to a balcony with superb views.
The upper village is a short 5 minute walk from the villa, where there is the local bakery, delicatessen, butcher and number of other local of food shops, restaurants and pharmacy.
