"This very recently refurbished apartment is situated in a quiet residential area of Calis Beach Resort, close enough to access all the amenities which abound the seafront and the main street but, also far enough away not to disturb your peace and tranquillity.
It is in one block of about four, plus a caretaker’s house, all of which are privately owned and set in their own well-maintained grounds and surrounded by a low wall.
There is ample room for parking in the street immediately outside the entrance to the block.
The apartment overlooks the bird sanctuary through which runs the canal by which the water taxis ply their trade to and from Fethiye.
The apartment is on the first and second floors of Block C. Entrance is through the small hallway, to the right is the kitchen/diner, to the left is a double bedroom and straight on is one of the bathrooms/wc. The second twin bedroom is accessed via the spiral staircase which also gives entrance to the second bathroom/wc . Access to the balcony is through the kitchenette where the beautiful Calis sunsets can be experienced whilst enjoying a cooling drink. All the windows and the balcony door have flyscreens
For those who enjoy a mixture in their holiday, whether it be sunbathing at the pool or beach, sightseeing and visiting historical sites, shopping, or partaking in sports, you will not be far away from any of this when you stay in Calis.
Situated about 4 Km west along the coast from the ancient town of Fethiye, Calis is a relatively modern resort. When we first visited in August 1990 there were only a few hotels and restaurants along the seafront with farms and fields hugging the rear of them. It has now developed into a thriving community with much more choice of hotels, bars, clubs, shops etc. and is home to the region’s Aqua Park.
Transport to and from the resort is readily available in the form of dolmus, a local bus service and taxis, which all travel to all the local towns and villages regularly, and, of course, the famous water taxi service into Fethiye.
Water Taxis
Within a short walk from the apartment along the path through the reeds (about 5 mins ) on the left is the water taxi booking office. From here, for 2.5 Yeni Turkish Lira (2005 prices) you can embark on the trip to Fethiye harbour, which takes approximately ½ hr. The taxis leave Calis, and Fethiye harbour, half hourly, all day every day. If you are thirsty drinks can be bought on board.
The boats take you down the canal, bordered on both sides by tall reeds, which house a wide variety of birds, including several resident kingfishers, into the bay. The scenery is stunning, with mountains as a backdrop to the town(s) which line the waterline. The view is very special in April and early May when the peaks are tipped with snow and the air is clear.You may even be lucky to catch sight of one of the many turtles that frequent this part of the coast during your crossing. Quite a few visitors make the return trip every day of their holiday to admire the scenery.
You can also hire the boats for private fishing or pleasure trips to the nearby islands that dot this coast.

For beach lovers Calis has about a mile of dark sand and shingle, dotted with sunbeds and parasols. It does not get overcrowded even in peak season. There are many places along the front where food and/or drinks are available.
For those who like being at the pool the Aqua Park is only 5 minutes away from the apartment, or if you prefer, most local hoteliers will allow non-residents to use their pools and facilities, just ask at reception or the poolside bar, buy a few drinks or lunch and enjoy yourselves.
Within an hour of Calis there are many different kinds of activities to be had: exploring rock tombs and the ancient castle, the artefacts museum, Turkish baths, all in Fetiyeh, sightseeing to Saklikent Gorge, the Trout farm at Yakapark where trout swim in a trough atop the bar itself, pleasure cruises, fishing and diving boats from Calis and Fethiye, paragliding in Olu Deniz, mountain biking in the hills above Calis and Gunlukbasi. Any of these can be reserved with a number of booking agents etc. who are along the sea front and the main street of Calis.
