There are cove beaches nearby, such as Porto Covo and Zambujeira and long stretches of beach at Santo Andre. Vila Nova de Milfontes is a 10 minute drive away, an attractive resort town situated at the mouth of the River Mira. The coastal strip that runs from the port of Sines down to Cape de São Vicente is within the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina and so it is not an over developed area, quite the opposite, a real find. As would be thought for an Atlantic coastal area, it offers sailing, surfing, diving and fishing. Inland there are plenty of opportunities for horse riding, walking, cycling and bird watching. As a car is essential, this extends your sight seeing opportunities and makes it possible to organise a trip to Lisbon, golfing in the Algarve. There are plenty of restaurants offering Alentejo dishes such as "Pork and Clams", as you would expect the fish dishes are varied and excellent.
