The self-contained cottage adjoining the owner’s home consists of a sitting / dining room, kitchen, bathroom and double bedroom all at ground floor level. An ideal retreat for a couple wanting comfortable and cosy accommodation, the cottage was recently completely refurbished to a high standard in a tasteful country style. All bedding, towels and tea towels, heating and hot water are included in the price.
Well behaved dog(s) and other pets welcome by prior arrangement.
SITTING/DINING ROOM
The front door leads into the spacious sitting/dining room, consisting of a dining table and two chairs, together with a two seater settee and one armchair. A colour television, radio with CD and cassette player, coffee table, standard lamp with wall lights and a central light over the dining table complete the furnishings. The room is heated by two night storage heaters plus an Electric Log-effect Stove. A re-chargeable torch and a night-light are provided.
A good selection of books, local magazines, games and jigsaw puzzles is supplied. There is also a plentiful supply of local information with many walks suggested.
BEDROOM
On both sides of the comfortable double bed are single drawer units with freestanding bedside lamps and a clock/radio. There is also a chest of three drawers with a small mirror, a double wardrobe (plenty of coathangers), and a full length wall mirror. A small hairdryer is provided and there are two folding chairs which may be taken out to use on picnics.
KITCHEN
The kitchen has been newly fitted and is fully equipped with the usual cooking equipment and utensils. The main items being:
Electric oven with grill and four ring hob
Microwave oven
Fridge / freezer
Electric toaster
Toasted sandwich maker
Electric Kettle
Cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and glassware sufficient for four people.
BATHROOM
The bathroom has a washbasin, toilet, and bath with shower over. An electric shaver socket and light is fitted over the basin. Also included are an electric wall heater and heated towel rail. An iron and ironing board are located in a corner cupboard.
OUTSIDE
There is off street parking provided for one car.
The secluded garden, split into three levels, offers delightful views of the village and the Quantock Hills beyond. Adjacent to the cottage door is a small patio area with table and chairs.
A BBQ is available on request.
Nestling in a valley approximately half way between Taunton and Minehead, STOGUMBER lies close to the Quantock and Brendon Hills and within two miles of the eastern boundary of the Exmoor National Park. The nearest coastline being 5 miles to the north at Watchet. It is the ideal location for beachcombers and country walkers alike.
Long before one enters Stogumber, a focal point to catch the eye in the centre of the village is the fourteenth century red sandstone Church of Our Lady St.Mary.
Across the square, facing the church. the White Horse Inn provides a warm and friendly welcome, home cooked food and an excellent selection of locally brewed ales.
The Central Stores and Post Office conveniently located next to the Inn offers a wide range of groceries, fresh and frozen produce (bread, milk and vegetables are supplied to the shop fresh each day by local tradespeople). Newspapers, postcards and stationery can be purchased here, and Post Office facilities are available.
