Located between the Marais Poitevin known as the Green Venice and the forest, not far from La Rochelle.
A rustic cottage fully restored to its original appearance, with exposed stone walls, wooden beams and wooden floor and tiled ground floor. Furnished with antique French country style comfortable furniture. The property sleeps 6 ( 4 adults and 2 children )and is located in the peaceful setting of a small south Vendee hamlet. It is an ideal base for exploring and enjoying this part of France.
Ground floor : a large living room with a fireplace, a fully fitted modern kitchen, bathroom and separate WC. Utility room. One double bedroom with en suite shower room. (bed 1.60 mt wide)
Upstairs : a double bedroom with one 1.40 mt wide bed, one mezzanine bedroom with two single beds, each 1.20 mt wide.

All rooms have electric heating.
To enhance comfort for a restful and enjoyable stay, there are a 500 square meters private garden, a stone patio with garden furniture, a large outdoor roofed dining area with rustic furniture and a purpose built chimney-barbecue. 2 mountain bicycles for adults and 3 for children are available free of charge.
Bathroom towels, house linen, and bed linen is provided, the beds are made prior to arrival.
The gîte is open all year round.

Within an hours drive of our cottage are the sandy beaches of the Vendée, including La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, Les Sables d'Olonne and La Tranche sur Mer. If you want a change of pace then the tranquil setting of the Marais Poitevin, with its Venise Verte waterways are just 20 minutes away. For kids of all ages the Futuroscope theme park is an hour away near Poitiers, and for the adults the famous Cognac houses are within easy reach for tours and tastings. The history adventure park at Puy du Fou opens a fantastic new attraction on 2006.
Airports at la Rochelle or Poitiers are within an hours drive. St Malo is 4 hours drive and Calais 7 hours.
A car is recommended to appreciate the local countryside and visit places of interest
Local facilities in the village include a bar, a ferme-auberge restaurant. The attractive Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte is a short drive away, and this has a wide range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as playing host to an excellent market every Saturday morning.
The South Vendée enjoys one of the sunniest climates in France . The sublime beaches of the Vendée are within easy reach (60 minutes), and are some of the best in Europe. Clean, with shallow, gently sloping seas, these are particularly suitable for families.
Travel to the Vendée is convenient, with road links to the Channel ports improved by new motorways in recent years. St Malo is only 3 hours away. In addition, the airport at La Rochelle (55 minutes) is served by two airlines from the UK (Ryanair and BE) and the larger airport a Nantes (1 hour) is part of the networks of both British Airways and Air France.
