Inspected and recommended by Alastair Sawday in the latest edition of the Special Places to Stay French Holiday Homes guide, this tastefully restored 200-year-old stone farmhouse is in the heart of the lush rolling hills of the Pays de Bray. The interior retains the charm and character of a traditional Normandy farmhouse, but with all the comforts of a modern home, making it ideal for summer or winter holidays. Please see our website for further information: www.LeGaillon.com
It's a great place to chill out and recharge your batteries. High above the village, it is tranquil and private in its own three quarters of an acre garden, with breathtaking views over the lush rolling hills of the Pays de Bray, yet only just over a mile from the village shops.
It's easy to get to - just 2 hours from Calais via the new A16 motorway (described by the Mail on Sunday as "the quietest in Europe"); 40 minutes from Dieppe; 1 hour from Le Havre.
In the summer soak up the sun on the south-facing suntrap terrace, have a barbecue, listen to the birdsong and the buzzing of the bees. Play table tennis, babyfoot, volleyball, and let the children roam and discover the wildlife in the 3000 square metre garden.
When the weather is cooler, enjoy a cosy evening in front of the log fire and snuggle up in our big squashy sofas with our selection of books, games and videos.
We have found that the house and grounds are such a wonderful place to just chill-out and recharge our batteries, whatever the weather, that we tend not to stray very far. But there is plenty to do and see in the region, should you wish to explore the area…
