Tranquil setting for historic house with panoramic views
A unique and historic property situated on a hillside and to the rear of an unused church, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The house, formerly the priest's house, is full of character and has been restored in collaboration with a local Italian architect, to a very high standard. It is in a peaceful setting on the outskirts of a small village, but benefits from all the amenities of the town of Cingoli just 15 minutes drive away. The house is spacious, and fully and comfortably furnished. It has its own pool beside the house, set in a large terrace with ample space for relaxing on the sunloungers provided. It was originally built on medieval foundations and many interesting features relating to its former use, have been retained and restored. There is a tiny balcony on the roof, like a 'crow's nest', with 360 degree views all around, and a secret spy-hole from the house into the church. The most recent project has been, to bring back into use the original wood-burning bread oven which is built into the outside wall of the house, and can be used as a barbeque. A special feature of this house is the completely private, beautiful garden terrace for al-fresco living, with stunning seasonal views of vineyards, olive groves and sunflower fields.
Casa per Prete is centrally situated in Le Marche and all areas are within easy reach by car. The house is on a hillside surrounded by fields, in the Verdiccio wine-producing region. The nearby town of Cingoli is known as 'the balcony of Le Marche' for it's exceptional views over the country, towards the sea. It is a typical picturesque Italian hill town built with the local pink stone and has all the facilities required: shops, banks, and also its own market which is held on Saturday. Nearby, there are traditional tavernas and restaurants within ten minutes' drive from the house.
The kitchen is new and modern and has a large hob with 5 rings. The master bedroom is very large (29sq m) with high ceilings and exposed beams. It has a kingsize and single bed and 5 windows looking out on wonderful views. All beds in the house are orthopaedic, for a good night's sleep. There are two bathrooms , both with showers.
The garden is a special feature of the house. There are 2 lovely large terraces, both very private and enjoying uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. However the house is on a steep hillside and although fenced is not suitable for children under the age of 5 years. The swimming pool is a recent addition. It is 8m x 4m and situated in a private, paved terrace next to the house, with views across a picturesque valley. Its use is exclusive to the guests in the house. The owners are English and are spend a lot of time there out of season, so the house is furnished and equipped to a high standard, with all the comforts of home.
Le Marche is a relatively undiscovered region of Italy with unspoilt hilltop towns, and many opportunities to experience traditional Mediterranean life and culture. It caters for a variety of interests, from art and festivals to sport and beaches. Throughout the season many villages have their own eating events or 'Sagre', celebrating local food such as cheese, wine and truffles. For music-lovers there are festivals in the region, with music ranging from jazz to open-air opera. The famous Frasassi Caves are just half an hour's drive from the house.
