Lauzero is a stunning secluded 17th century "metairie" or farmhouse set in rolling Gers countryside, surrounded by sunflowers and wheat fields in the summer months and with a fairytale view of a 13th century chateau. Holidaymakers can choose to rent the entire house, which sleeps up to 13 guests, or just the "gite part" which sleeps up to 8 (If the "entire house" option is selected, the owners can on request make available additionally their own suite of rooms which have been adapted specially for a disabled person, bringing the total number of guests to a possible 15). The farmhouse has exceptional character, with a magnificent "au vent" terrace to the east, a shady pergola on the south-facing pool terrace and a covered terrace to the west. The full-length, graduated depth, pool is surrounded by well-stocked gardens and paths as well as a 1.5 hectare private park with young trees with numerous places to relax or picnic. There are walks to the chateau and to neighbouring villages. Inside the house has been lovingly restored while preserving many rustic features, including ancient stone walls, beams, old grain storage silos and even a Roman pillar. The whole house is very comfortably furnished: even the ktichens have sofas and armchairs. In addition to a huge living room with grand piano and working open fireplace, there is a beautiful formal dining room seating up to 10 people (12 at a squeeze), two outsized separate fully modernized ktichens (making the accommodation suitable for mutliple families), a separate "snug" and large utility room with washing machine and drier. There are several shady and less shady locations for wining and dining outside on the terraces, including a barbecue. 3 bedrooms have en-suite facilities and there are additional toilets and a separate large family bathroom. The house is fully heated making it suitable for renting throughout the year. There are telephone points upstairs and downstairs as well as broadband internet. There is also French and British satellite TV, as well as a DVD player. PLEASE NOTE: The house and garden have been fully adapted for use by a disabled, wheelchair-bound person. The owner's own special suite of rooms can be offered, or request, in addition to the stated accommodation (but only if the "entire house" option is selected) as these comprise a fully equipped disabled person's bathroom with auto-wash WC and roll-in shower with removable chair. There are architect designed ramps throughout the ground floor so that it is entirely accessible to a person in an electric wheelchair (check width first) or much easier for a carer who has to push.

Lauzero is located 2.5 kms from Monfort, a delightful 13th century English-founded bastide village with its own restaurant, post-office and general store. It is 11 kms from Fleurance, a beautiful Gers town with good shops, cafes and services and one of the best street markets in the Gers. It is 40 minutes from Auch the capital of the Gers with its unique cathedral and narrow medieval streets, and 1 hour from Toulouse. The Pyrenees can be viewed from the top of the drive down to the house on a clear day and are about 2 /2.5 hours away depending on the route taken. In addition to the close proximity of Armagnac country, there are numerous outstanding historic villages and towns within easy reach on all sides and both coasts are a little over 2 hours' drive away.
