Situated in the pretty village (conservation area) of Villerouge Termenes this traditional village house has attractive views from both front and back. Unoverlooked it is still very much part of the village. The village is famous for being the site of the last of the Cathar martyrs and it own chateau has now been restored offering audio tours and videos explaining its history. The Village is central for touring the Cathar Castles in the area and is situated in the heart of the Corbierres with views of the Pyrenees from the approach to the village. The village has its own shop, Post Office (with intranet), cafe/bar, restaurant, gift shop and a unique Medieval Rotisserie situated in the castle. Vans stop almost outside the house selling meat and vegetables including a boulangerie van (almost every morning about 9 am) with fresh bread, croissants and patisseries. Cheese, wine and honey are also made locally. If you are seeking a true French experience this is for you!

The house was built in the mid 1800's and is stone built at the back with thick walls keeping it cool in summer but with a cosy log fire in the winter and convector heaters in every room. There is a small patio area suitable for barbeques and the cellar can be used as a play room and can also be opened up for dining having a pleasant view over the vineyard, village and surrounding hills. This we find is more convenient than it sounds as there is a drinks fridge, toilet and serving table nearby and the whole area can be shut up at night or if there is a change in the weather.

Signposted walks start from the village and the area abounds with wild flowers and butterflies.

For cycle enthusiasts the Tour de France passed by the front of the house last year.

The beach is about 40 minutes drive - Franqui being one of the most attractive. Scenic routes can be followed or quicker routes along motorways.

The towns of Carcassonne and Narbonne are also very attractive - being 40 minutes and 30 minutes drive respectively. The medieval Cite in Carcassonne is a 'must see' for everyone.

There are also a number of lakes and swimming pools a short drive away for water lovers.
