This quiet renovated 17th century winemakers cottage is ideally situated in the vineyards at the foot of Sancerre hill, in beautiful countryside just one mile from the river Loire .
The Mediaeval town of Sancerre ( 20 minutes walk ) attracts visitors as much for its picturesque streets as its world famous white wine .The nearest village, Ménétréol sous Sancerre (10 minutes walk ) is also charming and very ancient winemakers village alongside the Canal Latéral ,facilities include two bar/restaurants, village baker and post office.
Préfontaine is set in its nice tree filled private garden just off the local road. It is especially suitable for smaller groups and families. The house retains all its character and charm with exposed beams, fireplace. It is spectacularly situated amongst the vines, with views are over Sancerre hill and the neighbouring vineyards. The house is available for winter rents and is fitted with full heating.

Outside
The property has its own private drive leading off the country road with parking space for three car set in rolling country side of fields, trees and vines. The whole estate is free to residents without any neighbours. Next to kitchen/dining room are two small terraces and an above-ground swimming pool (3,5 m x 7,5m).
Activities and Places of Interest
Sancerre, with 2000 inhabitants has twelve restaurants that will provide you with local specialities, several handicraft shops . Two supermarkets outside of town both 1.5km away provide also both petrol. Locally within 5 minutes drive, in St Satur, next to the river Loire there are tennis courts, fishing, public swimming pool, canoeing down the river. Also Bike on rail from St Satur to Cosne is available. In St Satur, on Thursdays traditional market .
For the golfer, there is an 18 hole and a 9 hole courses, also in St Satur . Sundays and Wednesdays the market of Cosne/Loire attracts many visitors. Only 15 minutes drive away . It is a larger center with many more shops . Only 30 minutes drive is Bourges (capital of Berry and former of France) with its splendid cathedral, or Nevers (seat of Dukes of Burgundy). In our department Le Cher, you can follow the “Route Jacques Coeur” with its numerous castles. Further to the Loire Castles, 1hour and a half away from Préfontaine . There are a large variety of places of interest and numerous country type pursuits in the surrounding areas. There are many interesting towns and villages to visit in the region. Set in one of the most renown white wine regions of France (Sancerre), there are many opportunities to try and buy a range of wines, many at very reasonable prices. There are numerous local restaurants in the area offering good food .Indeed, the area has something to offer all age groups and interests.
Travelling house is about a 2 hour drive South of Paris . Motorway A6 then A77 exit 8km away.
